Laurits Christensen

Greetings,

After the recent death of my grandmother, I am researching her family history. Her grandfather was Laurits Christensen, who moved to the United States but returned to Denmark.

He appears in the attached 1940 Danish census records.

I would be very interested in locating Laurits’s death certificate, or information about where he is buried. If I can locate this information, I would like to come to Veddum to see the gravesite.

Is there a church or cemetery in Veddum I should contact to locate this information? Or perhaps you would know where else to look?

Laurits Kristensen was born 1866 and lived in Veddum until 1906. He died in Hadsund 1949, where he is buried. I am sorry to tell, the gravesite has been deleted.

Here is what I can find about Laurits:

Laurits Kristensen and Kristine were married 1890 in the church in Skelund.
1905 – 1912 they had a homestead in Veddum Gl. Kærvej 13. Laurits was bricklayer and farmer.
They had two children Arenton and Leny. I 1901 a foster daughter too Anna Kristine.
In 1911 Kristine and the children lived alone, so I think Laurits has left for America.
After Kristines death in America, Laurits came to Denmark. In 1940 he lived in old people's home in Hadsund (the 1940 Danish census records, you send me).
He died in Hadsund 1949 June 21 and was buried in the graveyard In Hadsund.
